Do I need to do anything to prepare for the dumpster rental?
Yes, after you have ordered a dumpster please ensure that the drop area is ready for the container on your day of delivery. This means you should have an empty spot in your driveway or desired drop area for our driver to safely drop the container. See our sizing chart on the Dumpster Rental page to get an idea of how large your dumpster is and how much space will be required.
Can I dispose of hazardous materials?
While most items can be disposed of at the local landfills, they do have a few limitations. Any sort of hazardous waste has to be disposed of separately. Please contact us first if you believe your waste may be considered hazardous or if you are unsure. One of our representatives will be glad to go over this process with you before your rental is confirmed.
Is there anything that I cannot put in the dumpster?
Items such as refrigerators, freezers, AC units, batteries and tires cannot be disposed of at the local landfills. For this reason we ask that these items not be put in the dumpster. If any paint is being disposed of, the paint containers must be open and completely dry before disposing them. If you need to dispose of items such as these, please call us and one of our representatives will be glad to discuss options on how to dispose your items.
What isn’t allowed in the dumpster?
Raw aggregate such as Dirt, Rock, Stone and Concrete can only be put into our 20-yard dumpsters. Please call us at (321) 446-5383 before renting to discuss pricing and availability.
• Appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, AC condenser’s, hot water heaters, batteries and such are not accepted by the landfill. We recommend you bring these items to a local scrap yard. However if you would like to rent a dumpster specifically for these please call us to order the container.
• Tires: we will gladly haul tires however they must be separated from other debris. Tires also have different pricing to dispose of. We recommend you bring these to a local tire shop instead. If tires are found mixed into a load then an additional charge of $15 per tire will be assessed to the customer.
• Paint containers can be disposed of however you must open the container first and allow it to completely dry before disposing of them. At that point please keep the paint lid off from the container.
• Hazardous Waste can be removed however you must contact our office before ordering. Items such as asbestos, contaminated soil and flammable materials fall into this category. These dumpsters will require special permits from the local landfills and will have a different set of prices compared to conventional trash disposal.
• Pressure Treated wood may incur an additional charge. Any area south of Pineda Causeway will incur a fee of $125.00 per occurence. If you plan on disposing of pressure treated wood, please call our Dispatch phone number (321-446-5383) first to get an accurate price. This charge is due to the fact that the Melbourne Landfill is not allowed to accept this material and it must be transported to the Central Disposal Facility in Cocoa FL
What is a mixed load?
The landfills have specific requirements for what can be put in with the garbage, versus what needs to be separated. While normal household garbage or construction debris can be mixed; items such as tires, yard Debris, and concrete must be separated into there own container. If this does not occur the landfill will assess additional dumping fees, which will have to be passed onto the customer
How much can I put in my dumpster?
All of our dumpster have a maximum fill line. Typically this mark is just below the top of the container. We ask that these lines be adhered to. You may not think being over this line is a big deal, however when the load is above the line it risks spilling out when we have to pick the dumpster up. Any debris above the maximum fill line also present dangers to other drivers while transporting it and can violate local DOT regulations. For this reason we ask that the maximum fill lines be adhered to. If you happen to need more capacity during your rental, feel free to call us and we will bring you another empty dumpster for you to fill.
What do I need to do when I am done with the dumpster?
Typically speaking, we plan on picking the dumpster up on the 15th day of its rental. However if you would like the dumpster to be picked up early then all you have to do is call our dispatch at (321) 446-5383. One of our representatives will schedule your dumpster to be picked up early and most times this can be done the same day you call. We do ask that you keep the area in front of the dumpster clear of any parked cars, construction debris, or other garbage. This ensures our drivers will be able to pickup your dumpster in a timely manner.
Will the dumpster damage my driveway?
Tropical Carting & Recycling makes every attempt to minimize the chance of damage to your property. If you have a painted driveway, Stamped driveway or pavers we will put down Rolliskates underneath the dumpster wheels. This will distribute the weight and keeps metal from touching the surfaces. You are also able to request that we use these on your driveway and we will be glad to deploy them at the time your dumpster is delivered. It is important to remember that when we drop the dumpster off it weighs approximately as much as a car. After loading the dumpster with debris, it can now weigh anywhere from 3 to 20 tons. This weight can cause driveways or surfaces with compromised foundations to shift, crack or even break. We also must be able to access the dumpster with a truck to drop and remove it. These are all important factors to keep in mind when deciding where to place your rented dumpster. Tropical Carting & Recycling is not responsible for driveway or property damage not caused directly by driver negligence.
